Terms of Service

1. The service

In The Middle provides software for customer records, invoice creation, CIS/VAT-related invoice calculations, PDF documents, payment tracking and transactional invoice or receipt emails. The service is currently intended for UK users.

2. Accounts

Users are responsible for keeping sign-in credentials secure, providing accurate account and business information, and promptly notifying us if they believe their account has been compromised.

3. Your business and customer data

You retain responsibility for information you enter into the service, including customer details, invoice content, bank details, tax identifiers and payment records. You must have the right to use that information and must not use the service for unlawful, misleading or fraudulent activity.

4. Invoice and tax calculations

The service assists with invoicing workflows, including CIS and VAT-related fields. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice. Users remain responsible for checking invoices, tax treatment, deductions, records and filings before relying on or sending them.

5. Plans, trial and subscriptions

The Standard plan is £5 per month and the Standard + CIS plan is £8 per month. New paid subscriptions include a 3-day free trial. Customers can cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first subscription charge. Pricing shown at checkout applies to the subscription and is separate from payments a business collects from its own invoice customers.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel a subscription so that it does not renew. If you request a refund within 5 days of the first paid subscription charge, we will normally refund that charge in full. After that period, subscription fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we expressly agree otherwise. Nothing in these terms limits statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

7. Payment processing

Subscription and invoice-payment functionality may use third-party payment providers. Payment availability, settlement and provider-specific terms may depend on the payment service selected and its own account requirements.

8. Email delivery

When you choose to send an invoice or receipt, the service may use a third-party transactional email provider. Delivery can be affected by recipient systems, spam filtering, domain configuration and provider availability.

9. Availability and acceptable use

We aim to keep the service available and reliable, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. You must not bypass security controls, access another business's data, interfere with the service, upload malicious material, use the service for fraud, or violate applicable law or another person's rights.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service should not be relied on as the sole source of tax, accounting, legal or financial advice. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

11. Ending use of the service

Users may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary for security, suspected misuse, non-payment, or legal requirements.
